Universities

The first higher music education department in Greece was founded 1985-1986 in Thessaloniki in the frame of Fine Arts School.
Six years later on 1991 has started the Music Department at the University of Athens and the year after (1992) at Ionian University in Corfu. 1998 a new music department was founded at the Macedonian University on Thessaloniki.

The music department cover mainly theoretical (musicological) disciplines while Macedonian and Ionian Departments cover also some artistic disciplines.
